What to do on the Adriatic coast

San Benedetto del Tronto

San Benedetto del Tronto is one of the best-known seaside towns on the Riviera delle Palme, appreciated for its long and well-kept promenade, equipped beaches and the lively summer atmosphere. It is a Blue Flag city, ideal to be enjoyed throughout the day, combining time at the beach with walks along the seafront and moments of city life.

The promenade, lined with palm trees, bike paths and wide pedestrian areas, makes it easy to get around even without a car and to experience the sea beyond just spending time on the beach.

La Riviera delle Palme

The Riviera delle Palme includes a stretch of coast from San Benedetto del Tronto to Grottammare and Cupra Marittima, characterized by wide sandy beaches. The name of the Riviera comes from the presence of about 8,000 palm trees, planted over time along the coastline as a distinctive feature of the coastal landscape.

The different towns follow one another, offering slightly different settings but remaining easy to reach from one another. This makes it possible to choose a different beach or promenade each day, alternating livelier areas with quieter ones, and moving along the coast even on foot or by bike.

Seaside villages

Alongside the more well-known seaside towns, the Riviera delle Palme also offers villages overlooking the sea that preserve a more historic and intimate character. Grottammare Alta is set on a hill just above the coast and can be reached with a short uphill walk. The village is defined by narrow streets, small squares and panoramic viewpoints, offering sea views from above in a quiet setting, clearly separate from the beach area.

Just north lies Marano, the historic center of Cupra Marittima, a small village with an authentic and peaceful atmosphere. Visiting these places makes it easy to combine days at the beach with afternoon walks in quieter surroundings, adding variety and balance to your holiday.
